Private Day Trip to Portofino, San Fruttuoso & Camogli from Genoa

A full Riviera day by sea: Camogli, the hidden cove of San Fruttuoso and Portofino in one relaxed private experience from Genoa. Just your group, the coast and a route shaped around the seasonal Golfo Paradiso ferry schedule.

Portofino can be busy in high season, but knowing when to go, where to walk and how to combine it with the coast makes all the difference. The day works beautifully for couples, friends, families, small groups and cruise passengers with a full day in port.

Still comparing transport and independent options? Read the Genoa to Portofino day trip guide for train, bus, ferry, taxi and private tour details.

Three Riviera places, not only Portofino

Most visitors spend a few hours in Portofino and leave. This route adds San Fruttuoso and Camogli for hidden coves, local atmosphere and a much fuller experience of the Ligurian coast.

Ferry route

Golfo Paradiso ferry from Porto Antico. Tickets are paid separately, usually around €30 per person. Children and teenagers may have lower fares. I will help you book the right route.

Portofino

The iconic village seen with local eyes — the harbor, the viewpoints, the corners most tourists never reach.

San Fruttuoso Abbey

One of Liguria's most extraordinary places: a medieval abbey hidden in a cove accessible only by boat or hiking trail.

Camogli

A colourful fishing village where life moves at a slower pace, with a pebble beach, old lanes and focaccia worth travelling for.

Itinerary

How the day unfolds

09:30

We meet at Via della Mercanzia 2 in the historic center, near Porto Antico. From there, we walk together to the ferry departure area and start the day with a clear, easy plan for the coast.

10:00
Coastal ferry from Genoa

We leave Porto Antico and follow the Ligurian coast by sea, passing the shoreline around Nervi and Recco before reaching Camogli.

Golfo Paradiso ferry · tickets paid separately
Morning
Camogli

Our first stop is the colourful fishing village of Camogli: the seafront, the old lanes and time for coffee, focaccia or an early lunch depending on the day's ferry connections.

Midday
San Fruttuoso di Camogli

We continue by boat to the hidden bay of San Fruttuoso. There is time to enjoy the setting, see the abbey from the cove and choose whether to visit, swim or simply slow down by the water.

Timing follows the seasonal ferry service
Afternoon
Portofino

The final stop is Portofino. We explore the harbour and quieter paths beyond the piazzetta, with time for a viewpoint and the corners most day-trippers miss.

16:50
Return ferry from Portofino

The scheduled return leaves Portofino, calls at San Fruttuoso and Camogli, then continues to Genoa. Exact departure and arrival times are confirmed for your date.

Seasonal schedule · weather dependent
Optional: Lunch at a local restaurant

A curated lunch at a handpicked local spot in Camogli — fresh seafood, local wine. Agreed in advance. Just mention it when booking.

FAQ

Good to know

What time does it start and end?
For the standard full-day route, we meet at Porto Antico around 09:30 for the 10:00 ferry. The scheduled return normally leaves Portofino at 16:50, calls at San Fruttuoso and Camogli, and reaches Genoa in the early evening. I confirm the exact timetable for your date because seasonal schedules and sea conditions can change.
Are ferry tickets included in the price?
No. Ferry or boat tickets are paid separately, usually around €30 per person depending on the seasonal route. Children and teenagers may have lower fares, and I will help you choose and book the right tickets for your date. The ferry is public and shared with other passengers, but the experience itself is private to your group.
Why not visit Portofino on my own?
You can, but Portofino itself is small. The value of this day is combining it naturally with San Fruttuoso and Camogli, following the ferry connections without wasting time and knowing which viewpoints, paths and local stops are worth choosing.
Will Portofino be crowded?
In high season, yes — that's the honest answer. What makes a difference is moving as your own private group at your own pace, rather than being tied to a coach tour schedule. I know the timing and the less-visited paths that most day-trippers never find.
Is food included?
Food and drinks are not included unless agreed in advance. A full lunch at a local restaurant in Camogli can be added as an optional extra — just mention it when booking.
What if the weather is bad?
In rough weather, Golfo Paradiso may cancel or modify the service. I monitor conditions and will let you know in advance. Rescheduling with no penalty.
How does booking and payment work?
You can pay the full amount securely through Stripe or reserve with a €100 deposit. If you choose the deposit, the remaining balance is paid online via a secure payment link before the experience. The deposit is fully refundable if you cancel at least 48 hours before the scheduled experience. If you cancel less than 48 hours before, the deposit is non-refundable. Rescheduling is possible whenever availability allows.
Can this work as a full-day excursion from the Genoa cruise port?
Only if your ship is in port long enough for the seasonal ferry schedule. The standard route leaves Porto Antico at 10:00 and the return ferry leaves Portofino at 16:50. Send me your ship's all-aboard time before booking so I can confirm whether the day has a comfortable safety margin.
Is this good for friends, couples or families?
Yes. The day is private, scenic and flexible, so it works well for couples, friend groups, families and small private groups. The ferry journey is part of the experience, and each stop offers something different — Portofino's harbor, San Fruttuoso's hidden cove, Camogli's beach and local food.
